Characteristics of the Caddo River
The Caddo River, flowing out of the Ouachita Mountains in west Arkansas, is one of the state's most unappreciated secret streams. Those that know it, however, describe the Caddo as among the best "family outing" type streams in the state.
The Caddo itself is peaceful - at least in most places. But to prevent paddlers from becoming too complacent, a handful of faster rapids, Class I and II, have been strategically placed by mother nature in the stream.
The scenery reminds you of days gone by, of the frontier trapper or a Caddo Indian tribe camped along the scenic banks that are filled with dogwoods and redbud trees.
Most importantly, some rivers in Arkansas experience low water levels during the months of July and August. But Two Rivers Canoe Rental is uniquely positioned on the Caddo, where water is not a problem since a power-generating dam releases water regularly as it makes it way from DeGray Lake.
So, during the late summer months we still have plenty of floatable water for you to enjoy!
