Fishing on the Caddo River

The Caddo is one of the most underrated and overlooked cold-water fishing streams in Arkansas. No secret to some, it offers excellent fishing in a peaceful setting that's ideal for a weekend family "getaway."
Smallmouth and spotted bass are the most notable sportfish inhabiting the Caddo, while longear and green sunfish are often caught as well.

The river is also one of the few cold-water streams where white bass are an important species. They migrate upstream from DeGray Lake during their spring spawning runs and are caught using live minnows, jigs, spinners and minnow-replica crankbaits.

Take out Points

On short floats the take out point is at the Caddo River Bridge. For long floats, it's the Arkadelphia Take-Out Point at the Ouachita River Bridge Park. Being the end of the float, feel free to use the available picnic and camping areas.

Also, remember to enjoy the large gravel bars along the river for camping or picnicking.
